Benefits of Glucosamine and Chondroitin for Dogs
by: Avrum Elmakis

Dogs joint health is just as important as our own
and we can help them maintain health joints as
they mature; which can help in preventing
osteoarthritis. This is especially important to
breeds of dogs like Labs which are prone to hip
dysplasia. Most pet owners are not aware that
there are naturally occurring sources of
chondroitin and glucosamine available in the all
natural dog chew market. We recently started
carrying two treats on our website http://www.
bestbullysticks.com which are high in both of
these substances. Glucosamine and chondroitin
are most commonly found in the cartilage of the
trachea or windpipe of a cow. They are similar
to bully sticks in that they are a dog chew which
takes some time for a dog to get through; as
opposed to a quick treat. Just like the regular
use of bully sticks, trachea given on a regular
basis will also help to clean teeth and keep gums
healthy! Stuffed gullets are another great source
of these substances and are the esophagus or food
pipe of the cow. Unlike the trachea, the gullets
are more of treat and can be eaten fairly quickly
by most dogs. As with most dog chews, they can
both be found in multiple sizes and owners should
use their discretion when selecting the length of
the chew.

With chondroitin and glucosamine working together,
they synthesize in the dogs body and help to
heal the cartilage in joints throughout the body.
This eases the pain already experienced by
arthritic dogs and also allows middle-aged dogs
to stay active and vibrant. Many owners do not
realize that a decrease in a dog’s activity can
be linked to weak joints or developing
osteoarthritis. Regular use of chews with these
substances in them is widely accepted and they
are becoming very popular among dog lovers. For
questions or concerns about trachea chews or
stuffed gullets, or where to buy them; please
